I AM LOST
Hi America, I am a little old 77-year Ausssie living in down town Western Australia, Australia. I am trying to understand the many Blogs I read from the American people, expressing their experiences, of living with racism in your home country and let me say right here at the start my understanding of life is shot to pieces in trying to except how I could live with the diversities of your every day life there in America .
Australians of my era 1940 end of second world war were always dreaming of how lucky it would be to be living in America especially at that time with the stories our parents would share with us from the American forces who were coming and going from the Port of Fremantle Western Australia my home town .
As a small child and even now I love the movies and in the early days as a small boy movies were worth more than gold to me . To see on the screen pictures that reflected happiness be it a cartoon comedy Charlie Chaplin -Three Stooges -Hopalong Cassidy -Might Mouse -Gone with The Wind- Wizard of OZ and the war movies, cowboys — Dancing and singing all reflected the happiness we could have if only we lived in America.
So I grew up with all these very strong beliefs and the happiness they brought to me as I strived to live just like the happy families I saw on the screen when I was young .
Now lets get back to where this blog began living in America today .
You could say that since 1940 America in my eyes has done a backflip from what the movies portrayed her to be at that time ,today, there seems to be nothing but strife for every one, regardless of race on a continuing daily bases .
I must confess that I know very little of American politics other that what I see and read from the media and the impressions of what it means to me at that time may not necessarily be what it real is .However what I do know is I find it very difficult to come on terms with the continual clash of factions which begs the question can all American people become equal ,after all they are individuals.
Perhaps I have opened Pandora’s box with the above statement as each faction would have their own story as to how they will work towards their aims to eliminate racism thus so this leads me to ask how long before all the factions will work together to eliminate racism in America .
As I see it here in Australia we only have 26 million people compered with Americas 333 million which less than 10% of Americas population our multi nationalities blend in a lot easy than America also Australia does not have a long history as America as it is only rather new compared with America history .
When I see news stories from America about violence with in the racism mould it always makes me shudder as I think to myself of the other people especially the innocent people caught up it the ruckus .My mind immediately goes into overdrive asking myself the question of what if this was happening to my family, My god, I would die, the innocent always pay .
I read of white supremacy in America and of course what we get is the version of dominance over the other races which always leads to conflict .
Other races fight to be treated equal so Americans must find the path that will lead them to equality.
Political parties from what I have seen and heard will need to lift there game .
They are playing games both parties with the racism card and we all know how a house made of cards end up .
